I am not a small business owner by myself. I may own a small business but I have an entire network of amazing people who are in this with me. This industry is not just a bunch of small businesses with a common goal/client etc. The Wedding Industry over the past 6 years has given me friendships I can’t imagine my life without. This industry has made me stronger and shown me generosity and kindness and support that I never imagined I would know. They inspire me daily.
Other business owners who will DROP what they are doing to SAVE A wedding for one of MY CLIENTS that they have no loyalty or connection to simply because I ask it of them to make a couple have a great day. Do I have to be the hero, No. I could leave it to someone else or let the cards fall as they may….but I KNOW I have this AMAZING network of people who WANT me to SUCCEED and WANT to make Happy Wedding days for others. This is what we all do, and we love it.
I know I can often fix terrible situations by a simple phone call to one of these amazing people. A groom leaves his tux pants in another state? No problem, my sweet tux shop owner will run them to the venue just because I asked her to and she wants this couple to have a perfect day. A company messed up an invoice date and forgets a cake? My friend (who was not the caterer for this wedding) will drop what she is doing to go to the store and pick up a cake and cupcakes etc for 120 people so my bride doesn't have to cry on her wedding day….ALL BECAUSE I ASKED it of them and they are dedicated to this industry.
(Pictures show are not from the actual events that needed help, just pictures I happen to have of my fellow vendors randomly)
Photographer doesn’t show up and they call me? I will rush right over and help them too. My second comes down with the FLU, my photographer friends jump in for me too. BECAUSE WE ARE AN AMAZING INDUSTRY who WANT EACH OTHER TO SUCCEED AND GROW. I can not tell you how blessed I am with friendships in this industry. How much these other business owners mean to me and have grown with me. Friendships that have developed far beyond a wedding day but are now some of my closest friends both inside and outside of work. People I can talk to, hang out with, ask life advice in raising my children as an entrepreneur.
Get to know your industry. SUPPORT your other vendors. CREATE your network. It will be one of the most valuable things you can do for your business and yourself and other people. Community over Competition people…because it may take a village to raise a child as the saying goes, but it also takes a community to make a business successful! I will fight for these businesses to be successful, just as they fight for me and mine. Thank you to the many amazing businesses/owners/employees who have become my friends, believe in me and helped me to make some amazing situations into wedded bliss for couples. Thank you to all our clients who have put their faith and trust in us knowing that we will do whatever we can to make your day perfect. This is why we network, this is why we refer the ones we do, because we know they believe in the best for the client, the same as we do!
I wish I had photos of ALL the amazing vendors but that would be a huge post and I do not always get to capture photos of people behind the scenes! If I left you out, you still mean the world to me, these images were handy! LOL
