Summer Stories: Part I Free Download Summer Photo and Bucket List
It’s summer time!! Time for vacations, stay-cations and heat. For me, that also means getting my work done around kids, extra yard work, and gardening. I have a slightly slower wedding schedule since I do not book as many in the summer because my kids are young and at home. So this is a great time to enjoy vibrant summer colors: blues, hot pinks, citrus yellow, vivid greens, a time to take in all the beauty, the heat and ICE CREAM!
Even though I have a lighter wedding schedule, I often feel my work schedule picks up in other ways. We do a ton of bridal sessions and engagement sessions for our fall and spring wedding clients. We do more meetings plus I am in holiday planning mode so that my sets etc are ready to go while I’m in the middle of crazy fall wedding season. This business rarely slows completely down, just the to do list changes a bit.
I tend to get caught up in business and put it first. My clients are important to me but so are my family. So this summer, I decided to not just make a “project” list of things I want to get done, but a BUCKET list of things I want to do. Traditions like going to the drive-in theater. Fun moments that inspire me from my own childhood: eating watermelon on the porch. Basically a list of colorful summer inspired moments that I want to share with my kids. I’m going to take it one step further and try to get a few “perfect” photos that capture each of those moments. I’m notorious for not photographing my own kids. When I get home from work, I put my cameras away and occasionally remember to “snap” a few photos with my phone. I’m really noticing that my kids are growing up and I am not capturing that for myself as much as I should be. You would think as a photographer, my kids would be well documented but I guarantee they have fewer photos of themselves than any of their peers! (I know, bad mommy!)
So I would love to learn all about your summer plans! What inspires you? Comment and share what is on your summer bucket list. To inspire you, here is my Bucket List as a free download.
