NINE. That is the number of blog posts I have in draft form from last year that I never published. NINE. I have ideas, thoughts, photos that I want to share, but I get distracted in the work of taking, editing, and delivering. In other words, the blog is the first thing to go when I get busy. It's a labor of love but not one that I feel I HAVE to do when compared to delivering wedding photos in a timely manner.
Unfortunately, another thing that goes out the window when I get busy is my personal and creative photography. The shoots I do just for me because I LOVE PHOTOGRAPHY. I LOVE being an artist and the camera is my tool. I think being creative is VITAL to staying relative. I always want to be the best I can be for my clients and continue my passion of photography.
In addition to my personal creative shoots, my personal life photography goes out the window. You know the saying, "the mechanics car is always the roughest to run" or "the electricians house has the worst wiring?" It's so true about the photographer's kids. The last thing you want to do is drag the camera equipment around with you when you go to the zoo or the park or whatever with the kids after shooting two weddings that weekend...so like every parent in America I rely on my cell phone...if that. My kids are stunning. I need to spend more time with them and my camera.
This year, I am vowing to find that creative spirit I have let slide the past two years. To work with people on projects that give me that creative outlet to explore, develop, and learn. To take the time to BE CREATIVE and work on my ART not just Work. I LOVE weddings and capturing Love. I LOVE working with my clients but I want to be MORE for myself and for them.
So I am excited on some pending projects I have for this year and will be sharing them with you through my blog, because writing my journey and sharing the process and the steps is also a way of expressing myself. I hope this year to inspire and create in addition to working with you. So I hope I can keep to my New Year's Resolution and blogging through the year. I am looking forward to you joining me!
