So here is a peek into our personal lives. The people behind the cameras. Stephen and I have been married 10 years this year. (12 years together total). We have two beautiful children ages 5 and 3. This year, my parents faced some serious medical issues, so we decided to take them with us on vacation and let them have a much needed break right along with us. My parents' are an integral part of our business. My mom babysits the children on the weekends so that we can photograph weddings. My dad is right there when I need something built or done that we just don't have time to get to.
Really, we would not be where we are without them. I learned how to run a company at their knee. My dad is an engineer that ran his own amazing company for 27 years with my mother at his side doing all the accounting/office management etc. with her finance degree. I (Krista) was raised, literally, in the small business world, working in the office since I was about 12. So I can honestly contribute my passion for my business and a lot of aid to my parents. It was nice to have a relaxing vacation with them spending part of the week with us.
We rented a house in the Lake Lure area of NC. A beautiful cabin overlooking the lake. We spent a lot of mornings on the deck drinking coffee and a lot of evenings on that same deck drinking wine! We went to see the Biltmore house in Asheville, did some shopping, but mostly just relaxed on the lake and played with the kids.
The kicker is: We didn't take our cameras! WHAT? We haul those things around night and day so when we vacate, we step away from them. We rely on one of our old dslr's that's light weight with just a basic lens and our phones. Yep. We are just like every other tourist when we vacate. Snapshots are the order of the day. So here is a peak at the few pictures we actually did take. (seriously, we try to leave the cameras and phones alone so we just spend time together).
Nanna and Poppy taking the kids for a paddle boat ride back to the cabin from the "beach area".
The kids at Biltmore! Those crazy skies ended up dumping on us about an hour later!!
My adorable parents at Biltmore!
This amazing little church we found on the way to Asheville. I need a bride to put on those steps and bridge!!
Can not believe I am posting pictures of me in a bathing suit but this is pretty much the only thing I did....throw my children in the air...I should have amazing biceps now. "Mommy throw me!"
Katie and her poppy!
Stephen (my pirate) whisking away our children to explore the lake. (I sat on the dock and fed the fish who got a little frisky with my toenail polish).
We found this great little waterfall the evening before we left. I actually WISH we had had our equipment with us as it was almost dark and was such a stunning place.
Katie was a little unsure of the fast moving river
An inside pic of the cabin we stayed at (and fell in love with).
First visit to a pub for the kiddo
